 2012 Registration Minimize

Castle Chess Camp typically fills up early- register early to secure a spot!

RATING REQUIREMENT -- All campers must have a minimum USCF regular (not quick) peak rating of 1050. (Past campers are exempt from this rule.) Players with peak ratings of at least 850 and a minimum of 10 rated games may be placed on a wait list by emailing board@castlechess.org. Players may be admitted to camp as space permits from the wait list according to rating strength and not in the order in which they were added to the list. Should your rating go over the minimum at any time before the camp is full, then you may register at that time but you will only pay the rate that was in effect at the time you were placed on the wait list.

Please DO NOT PAY if you do not meet the minimum rating!

Notes and explanations:

Resident camper  fees include a dorm room (all rooms are double occupancy) and 3 meals a day starting with dinner on Sunday and ending with lunch the following Sunday.  Campers younger than 10 years old must request special permission to be resident campers unless rooming with a parent.

Linen service includes 1 pillow, 2 flat sheets, 1 blanket, 2 towels and 1 washcloth. Campers NOT selecting this option will be expected to bring their own linens as none will be provided. If a camper who is rooming with a parent selects linens, the parent will also get linens and the total cost will be $60.

Commuter Fees include 7 lunches and 7 dinners, beginning with dinner on Sunday night and ending with lunch the following Sunday. NO BREAKFAST is included for commuters!

No private rooms will be given to campers under age 18.

Warning: Due to the intensity of camp, it might not be suitable for children younger than 10 and/or less experienced chess players. Our classes are made according to rating and without regard to age, so please consider whether your younger and/or less experienced child is ready to sit in a chess lecture for several hours a day and follow along with lessons that often rely heavily on the student's ability to follow chess notation. Can your child take care of his daily hygiene routine by himself? Can he successfully navigate an adult-sized cafeteria by himself? Can he handle the daily schedule, which is absolutely crammed with activities from 8:30 AM until 9 PM every single day? (See schedule info HERE.) Think carefully about these issues before you register!

After you have paid, we certainly hope you will not need to cancel.  However, should that become necessary for any reason, our refund policy is as follows:

  • All but $100 before April 1
  • All but $200 from Apri l 1 to April 30
  • All but $300 from May 1 to May 25
  • NO refunds after May 25
